Day 01: Arrival – Colombo
Upon arrival at Colombo airport you will be met and transferred to the cosmopolitan capital city of Colombo (transfer time: approx. 40min), spend a few hours at leisure and late in the afternoon take a tour of Colombo to include a visit to the bustling Pettah market, Gangarama temple, a drive past the old Parliament and a viewing of the stunning sunset over the Galle Face green. Afterward return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Overnight at HotelDay 2: Colombo – Kandalama
After an early breakfast make your way to the cultural triangle (transfer time: approx. 4hr) on route make a stop at the Millennium Elephant Foundation where you would have the opportunity to interact with some orphaned elephants, you may wish to feed them and perhaps even give them a bath in the local river. Afterward proceed to Kandalama which would be your home for the next three nights. Check in at your stunning hotel for an overnight stay and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Whilst here you may even wish to experience an elephant back safari across the plains surrounding the hotel (optional extra).
Overnight at HotelDay 3: Kandalama
After breakfast proceed to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa for a cycling tour around monuments, gain an insight into the history of this marvelous wonder. From here return back to the hotel for a few hours at leisure and late in the afternoon climb the staggering UNESCO world heritage site - Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climb the dizzying 1200 odd steps to the top whilst catching glimpses of the mirrored wall, the painted damsels and the throne of King Kasyapa. Upon completion return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Overnight at HotelDay 4: Kandalama
After breakfast spend the day at leisure or if you crave a bit more culture during your time here why not head to the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Overnight at HotelDay 5: Kandalama – Kandy
After breakfast check out and proceed to the cultural capital of Kandy on route making a stop at the Dambulla cave temples and also make a brief stop at one of the spice garden's in Matale, during your time here you would learn about the medicinal values of many of the plant species found in Sri Lanka and you may even wish to try your hand at a cookery lesson. Arrive in Kandy and check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.
Overnight at HotelDay 6: Kandy
After breakfast spend a few hours at leisure and late in the afternoon take a tour of the city of Kandy which would include a visit to a batik workshop, an arts and crafts centre, the botanical gardens and perhaps even an interesting tour of the Garrison cemetery. During your time in Kandy you would also make a visit to the revered Kandy Temple of the Tooth after experiencing a cultural dance by some young local artists. Upon completion return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Overnight at HotelDay 7: Kandy – Negombo
After breakfast spend a few hours at leisure and then proceed to Negombo for a night by the beach (transfer time: approx. 3hr). Arrive in the tourist town of Negombo for a relaxing beach stay. Overnight stay in Negombo.
Overnight at HotelDay 8: Negombo - Colombo – Departure
After breakfast check out and proceed to the airport for your onward flight.
